Sasquatch Customs — Lowrider Series — 1989 Toyota WE-HAUL Box Truck

Moving day just got a lot more complicated.

You called for a truck. You needed something reliable and orange and roughly the right size to get your couch and your dresser and your seventeen boxes of stuff you definitely need but have not opened since the last time you moved from point A to point B without incident or spectacle or the involvement of an eight foot cryptid with impeccable taste in suspension modifications and gold wire wheels.

What showed up was not that.

What showed up was a 1989 Toyota box truck — orange and white, WE-HAUL stenciled down the side in letters that mean business — sitting so low on a set of gold Dayton wire spoke wheels that the clearance between the frame and the pavement is a conversation rather than a measurement. Hydraulics that nobody at Toyota engineering anticipated when they were designing a utilitarian commercial vehicle for the practical transportation needs of small businesses and weekend movers in the late 1980s. A suspension setup that transforms the most no-nonsense vehicle in the history of Japanese commercial truck manufacturing into the most talked about lowrider on the block. And behind the wheel — or more accurately, leaning against the side of it with one very large hand resting on the WE-HAUL lettering and the other hand casually working the switches — Sasquatch.

Of course it is Sasquatch.

Because who else would take a 1989 Toyota box truck and turn it into a lowrider? Who else has the vision to look at something that was designed exclusively for the purpose of moving boxes from one apartment to another and see the lowrider that was hiding inside it all along? Who else would show up to the car show in something this unexpected and this perfect and park it between the Monte Carlos and the Impalas and the Bel Airs and somehow make everything else look like it was not trying hard enough?

Only Sasquatch. Only always Sasquatch.

WE-HAUL. Because someone has to move this thing. And someone has to lower it. And apparently that someone is an eight foot cryptid with hydraulics, gold Dayton wire wheels, and a moving truck that has never once been used for moving anything except the goalposts on what a lowrider can be.

This shirt is for the ones who appreciate the left field build. The lowrider faithful who know that the best canvas is not always the most obvious one. The JDM community and the mini truck scene and the box truck believers and the novelty apparel crowd and everyone in between who has ever looked at a moving truck and thought — you know what that needs? Lower. Much lower. On gold wire wheels. With Sasquatch hitting the switches while the neighbors try to figure out what is happening and whether they should call someone.

They should not call anyone. There is nothing anyone can do. Sasquatch has the switches and the WE-HAUL is going nowhere fast — which at this ride height is the only speed available and also the correct speed for something that looks this good.
