Frequently Asked Questions — Rod Shop Collective

About Rod Shop Collective

Who is behind Rod Shop Collective?
Rod Shop Collective is a third generation hot rod brand built by a lifelong gearhead from Louisville, Kentucky. My father was a career machinist and lifelong drag racer. I grew up in the shop alongside him. I began drag racing NHRA Junior Dragsters in 1993 — the first year of the Junior Drag Racing League — and moved to a full size rear engine dragster when I turned sixteen. We built our own engines and did all our own work. I graduated from the University of Louisville J.B. Speed School of Engineering. Today I own The B.A. Colonial — a hot rod bar and hangout in Louisville where Elvis Presley performed in 1956 — and I run Rod Shop Collective from the same Louisville shop where my father and I built hot rods together during my college years. The marina blue 1967 Chevy Nova SS pro-touring build in our shop is the car that started it all.

Where is Rod Shop Collective based?
Louisville, Kentucky. The apparel is fulfilled through our print-on-demand partner Printful. The Hand Built collection — wooden wall art and hand screen printed felt banners — is made entirely by hand in our Louisville shop.

Where can I follow Rod Shop Collective?
Instagram at @rodshopcollective. That is where new releases, behind the scenes shop content, build updates, and everything happening at The B.A. Colonial get posted first.

Orders and Shipping

How long does shipping take?
Apparel orders typically arrive within five to ten business days of placement. Hand Built collection pieces take ten to twenty one business days due to the made-to-order handmade production process. See our full Shipping Policy for detailed information.

Do you offer free shipping?
Yes. Free standard shipping on every order to the continental United States. No minimum. No code. Applied automatically at checkout every time.

Can I change or cancel my order after placing it?
Apparel orders enter production quickly through our Printful fulfillment partner. If you need to change or cancel an order contact us immediately at info@rodshopcollective.com with your order number. We will do everything we can to accommodate changes before production begins but we cannot guarantee cancellation or changes once an order has entered the production queue.

Do you ship internationally?
Yes for apparel through our Printful fulfillment partner. International shipping rates and delivery times are calculated at checkout. Hand Built collection pieces currently ship to the continental United States only. Contact us at info@rodshopcollective.com if you are outside the US and interested in a Hand Built piece.

My order has not arrived. What do I do?
Check your tracking number first — you received it in your shipping confirmation email. If the tracking shows delivered but the order has not arrived check with neighbors and building management before contacting us. If the tracking shows no movement for more than five business days or the estimated delivery window has passed significantly contact us at info@rodshopcollective.com with your order number and we will investigate and resolve it.

Products — Apparel

What are the shirts made of?
All Rod Shop Collective apparel is printed on a premium 6.1 oz. 100% ring-spun cotton tee with a relaxed unisex fit. Heavier and more durable than most mass-market tees. Built to last and hold its shape through repeated washing.

How do I know what size to order?
See our Size Guide for specific measurements. The shirts are true to size with a relaxed unisex fit. If you are between sizes or prefer a looser fit size up. Still not sure? Email us at info@rodshopcollective.com with your measurements and we will give you a personal recommendation.

How do I care for my shirt?
Machine wash cold. Tumble dry low. Do not bleach. Do not iron directly on the graphic. Washing inside out will extend the life of the print and keep the graphic looking sharp longer.

Are the shirts printed in the USA?
Rod Shop Collective apparel is fulfilled by Printful whose production facilities are located in the United States and internationally depending on order location and current production capacity. The designs are created in Louisville, Kentucky.

Can I request a custom shirt design?
We occasionally take custom design requests depending on current capacity. Contact us at info@rodshopcollective.com with your idea and we will let you know what is possible.

Products — Hand Built Collection

What is the Hand Built collection?
The Hand Built collection is our line of original handmade garage wall art — made entirely by hand in our Louisville, Kentucky shop. It includes giant five foot wooden wall art pieces — small block Chevy, LSX, and flathead Ford head gaskets and a five foot Hurst shifter — and hand screen printed vintage felt banners including Genuine Ford Parts, Genuine Chevrolet Parts, and a 1963 Class Champion NHRA Front Engine Dragster design.

How big are the wooden pieces?
The wooden head gaskets and the Hurst shifter are five feet tall. They are substantial, commanding pieces that fill a wall the way a great engine fills a build. See individual product pages for specific dimensions.

How big are the felt banners?
The felt banners are 36 inches wide by 25 inches tall.

Are the Hand Built pieces truly handmade?
Yes. Every piece in the Hand Built collection is cut, finished, and detailed by hand in our Louisville, Kentucky shop. They are made one at a time. No two pieces are exactly identical — natural variation in wood grain, color, and texture is part of what makes each piece unique and is a feature of the craft not a flaw in the product.

How long does it take to receive a Hand Built piece?
Hand Built pieces are made to order and typically take seven to fourteen business days to produce before shipping. Delivery after shipping is typically two to five business days within the continental United States. Total estimated time from order to delivery is ten to twenty one business days. We will notify you by email when your piece ships with a tracking number.

Can I request a custom Hand Built piece?
We occasionally take custom requests depending on current shop capacity. If you have something specific in mind — a different engine configuration, a custom banner design, a specific size — contact us at hello@rodshopcollective.com and we will discuss what is possible and what the timeline looks like.

Do the Hand Built pieces come ready to hang?
Yes. Every Hand Built piece ships ready to hang with hanging hardware included.

Collections

What is the State of Burnout collection?
The State of Burnout collection features a Chevy C10 truck doing a burnout in the shape of each state — combining state pride and truck culture in a single bold graphic on a premium black tee. New states are added regularly. If your state is not in the collection yet reach out and request it at hello@rodshopcollective.com.

What is the Profile Collection?
The Profile Collection is a series of clean white line drawings of the most iconic vehicles in hot rod and car culture — pure silhouette on black, designed for the enthusiast who knows exactly what they are looking at the moment they see it. New vehicles are added regularly.

What is the Sasquatch Customs collection?
The Sasquatch Customs collection puts the Pacific Northwest's most legendary cryptid at the center of automotive and outdoor culture — at the switches of lowriders, leaning on pro-touring muscle cars with arms crossed, and sitting in a vintage lawn chair next to lifted trucks and campers in pine forests. It spans three sub-collections — the Lowrider Series, the Camping Series, and the Muscle Car Collection.

What is the Hand Built collection?
See the Hand Built collection question above in the Products section.

When is my state being added to the State of Burnout collection?
New states are added based on demand, design queue, and production capacity. The fastest way to get your state prioritized is to reach out at info@rodshopcollective.com and request it directly. Every request goes into the planning queue and states with the most requests get prioritized.

When is my vehicle being added to the Profile Collection?
Same answer as above — reach out at info@rodshopcollective.com with your vehicle suggestion and it goes into the design queue. The more requests a specific vehicle receives the higher it gets prioritized.

The B.A. Colonial

What is The B.A. Colonial?
The B.A. Colonial is a hot rod bar and hangout in Louisville, Kentucky owned by the Rod Shop Collective founder. Today it is a gathering point for the hot rod and car culture community of Louisville and the surrounding region. If you are ever in Louisville come find us.

Is The B.A. Colonial connected to Rod Shop Collective?
Yes. The same person who runs Rod Shop Collective owns The B.A. Colonial. Both exist to serve the same community — the builders, the drivers, the gearheads, and the car culture faithful of Louisville and beyond. The bar is where the community gathers in person.
