Nobody saw it coming. Nobody ever does.

You are standing at the car show. The lowriders are lined up in the afternoon sun — the Monte Carlos and the Impalas and the Cutlasses all gleaming and sitting and doing what lowriders do on a Sunday afternoon in a parking lot that has become, for a few hours, the most important place in the city. And then something turns the corner that makes everyone stop. Not because it is flashy. Not because it is loud. Because it is a 1987 Chevy Astro Van — slammed, smoothed, candy painted, sitting on a set of gold Dayton wire spoke wheels that have no business looking this good on something that used to haul soccer equipment and grocery bags and three rows of screaming kids to a birthday party in 1991 — and it is absolutely, undeniably, completely perfect.

And standing next to it, one very large hand resting on the roof with the casual proprietary confidence of someone who built every inch of it, is Sasquatch.

Who else would take the most overlooked van in the history of General Motors and turn it into the most talked about lowrider in the Pacific Northwest? Who else has the vision to see what a boxy, utilitarian, soccer mom Astro Van could become in the right hands — or in this case, the right very large hairy hands — with enough patience and enough candy paint and enough gold wire wheels to make the whole thing look like it was always supposed to be exactly this? Who else would show up at a lowrider show in something nobody expected and leave with every conversation in the parking lot?

Only Sasquatch. Only always Sasquatch.
